"WHO GETS TO COOK INDONESIAN FOOD?"

DINNER AND A PANEL MODERATED BY TITO AMBYO (RMIT)
FOOD BY WARUNG DORAYU ( DORA MAZZEO AND AYU SARASWATI )

As a country made up of over 6,600 ethnic groups and built upon histories of colonisation and migration, what even is Indonesian food? And who gets to cook it? As a diaspora, our relationship with food is mediated through cultural plurality. This dinner is all about celebrating how we can respectfully take ownership of cuisine and interrogating what authenticity in cooking is.

We'll be hosting a panel talk with Indonesian food practitioners, mediated by journalist and journalism lecturer at RMIT, Tito Ambyo. Balinese-Australian cook Ayu Saraswati will be cooking Indonesian food with Italian-Australian chef Dora Mazzeo for the very first time as WARUNG DORAYU.
