Mike Carlton Lunch

From 1928-1942 the battle cruiser Australia 11 carved a unique place in Australian naval and war history. Stunned by murder and court martial in 1942, Australia 11 fought in the battle of the Coral Sea and in 1944, in the greatest sea battle of all time, the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Attacked by more kamikaze aircraft than any other Allied ship, she retired gracefully. Laden with battle honours and was scrapped in 1956. Mike Carlton, with his inimitable panache and flawless research, tells the story of Australia, which encompasses the era's fascinating naval and social history.
